Our Curriculum
Be a Part of Our Family
-
Helping Hands: We value the committed, caring individuals, families and business who support us each year. Become an ALCD volunteer and help to make a positive impact on the lives of our children.
-
Support a “Future Leader”: As a non-profit center, the Academy for Learning and Character Development depends on donations to help us operate to our fullest potential. Helps us keep childcare affordable for low-income families. The financial support you provide will help us continue to grow and expand our efforts in helping children learn, grow, and develop into “Today’s Learners and Tomorrow’s Leaders".
Our Children are encouraged to excel in every area. Some examples of how we prepare them for success include:

-
WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE ARE NOW TEACHING KOREAN. Many thanks to our Korean teacher Ms. Eden Morely.
-
We teach sign language, Russian, and Spanish to all our students.
-
We use a curriculum that is an original design called, "Show What You Know". This encourages our children to have the confidence to show you what they have learned each day. It also helps to prepare them for public speaking and developing early leadership skills.
Thanks to our Donors

Kids Against Hunger (K.A.H.) is an idea created by one of our youth volunteers, 8th grade Alyssa Slocum. Her idea is to feed those that are in need and at the same time bring together people from all walks of life. Food will be provided from local restaurants and bakeries and prepared at Academy for Learning. The purpose of this project is to highlight the fight against hunger while feeding those in need and helping to connect them with resources.
